Sports funding

PE at Langshott

At Langshott Primary School, we believe that health and physical activity is vital for children's well-being. We do this through quality first teaching and by providing opportunities for all of our pupils through extracurricular clubs and locality competitions across a range of sports. Through our school sports values, we believe this benefits children's self-esteem and well-being.

For the academic year 2022-23 we will be focussing on the following key areas:

1. The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity - kick-starting healthy lifestyles.

2. The profile of PE and sport is being raised across the school.

3. Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and Sport.

4. Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils.

5. Increased participation in competitive sport.

Lessons

At Langshott, we deliver two sessions of PE each week delivered by the class teacher. Between both of these, we teach a variety of different sports and skills. The children will learn at least two skills/sports each term.

In the document below, we have outlined the expenditure for the academic year 2023-24.

Swimming

There is a condition requiring schools to publish how many pupils within their year 6 cohort are meeting the national curriculum requirements to swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres, use a range of strokes effectively and perform safe se;f-rescue in different water-based situations. This condition has been added in response to the recommendations from the Swim Group, who reviewed curriculum for swimming and water safety in primary schools.
